Speech and Hearing
As Delta Zeta women, we are truly global citizens and believe that service to others enriches the world. Our national philanthropy, supported by both collegiate and alumnae chapters, is speech and hearing. Our chapters support local and national speech and hearing organizations, volunteering many hours and generously fundraising for this cause. Delta Zeta partners with Starkey Hearing Foundation to use hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world. Starkey provides over 1 million hearing aides domestically and abroad. You can visit Starkey’s website for more information.
Painted Turtle Camp
The Painted Turtle Camp is Delta Zeta’s national service project. Their mission is to provide a year-round, life-changing environment and authentic camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Delta Zeta members volunteer at the camp as well as raise money for this amazing cause. Delta Zeta knows the power of women to effect positive change, and has proven it from our earliest volunteer work during World War I to the efforts given today to foster speech and hearing programs and support The Painted Turtle. Delta Zeta members take change into their own hands by volunteering wherever they see a need. Learn more about the Painted Turtle Camp on their website.
Our sisters volunteer in our local community through a variety of outlets. Our local service projects include volunteering regularly at the Richardson Boy’s and Girl’s Club and Pedi Place.
At Boy’s and Girl’s Club our sisters help students with homework, assist with programs and activities, and act as positive role models. We love spending time with these amazing kids and watching them grow!
PediPlace is a non-profit pediatric center for children who are uninsured or qualify for Medicaid. Without places like PediPlace, these children would typically make unnecessary visits to the emergency room or go without any medical care all together. Our sisterhood volunteers at their office and decorates the patinet’s waiting rooms. These decorations not only help brighten up with walls of the office, but impact the visits of the children, families, and employees. Our efforts help create a friendly and welcoming environment for children during their visits. We are proud to serve our communities through our efforts at Boy’s and Girl’s Club and PediPlace.
